A New-Year Message from the Dragonfly

Wondering about the spiritual significance of the dragonfly? Perhaps you are like me and have been seeing dragonflies as the new year dawns. The dragonfly has been looming large for me as the new year begins. I saw them flying around my courtyard and garden on New Year’s Day and January 2nd, and on January 2nd, they appeared randomly in Oracle cards.  Whether you have been seeing them or not, I feel like the dragonfly has a message for all of us as the new year begins, and we leave (a difficult) year behind. The dragonfly’s message is EMERGENCE. Like READ MORE

Why Workers Need to Do Yoga in their Office Chair

Corporate and Office Yoga Classes Offering yoga classes to staff or workers might not be enough. Often the people who need it the most won’t do it. They might not feel flexible enough. They might feel like they can’t ‘do’ yoga. Some people just aren’t keen to do ‘yoga’ based on what they’ve heard. The most stressed will not feel like they have enough time to do a 1-hour class, or even enough time to get changed into Yoga gear. Those are the people who eat at their desk and talk constantly about how much they have to do. Yet READ MORE

The Yoga Cat at Number 42

If you have done any of my online yoga classes during the Covid-19 lockdowns, you will be acquainted with my very curious, attention-seeking Singapura cat Ditto (A.K.A The Ditz). He likes to climb on me at any opportunity, lie underneath a downward dog or chatauranga, reach up to tap me with a paw, and stick his backside in the air for a back scratch. If all else fails, he’ll bite an ankle or an arm and I’ll have to take a moment to put him in another room (where he will invariably meow loudly and bang on the door). Even READ MORE

Embrace the Change!

Menopause is a strange beast in Western society. If we talk about it at all, we are complaining to each other … mostly about the hot flushes. We have learned to dread menopause, to see it as the end of womanhood, and to feel like it’s out of our control. As we get older in a culture that values youth and external ‘beauty’, we can feel invisible, ignored, not respected, and cast aside. Australian Aboriginal traditional culture celebrates the woman as she reaches menopause. She has become wise. It’s a positive time in her life. This is a much better READ MORE

What Would Jane Austen’s Books be Like if her Characters did Yoga?

You can actually buy these cards on Etsy! Click on the card to go to the Etsy page. Is there a place for pride and prejudice in yoga? How about sense and sensibility? I teach a special yoga class that is a beguiling journey through everyone’s favourite Jane Austen novels, but what would life have been like in the Regency era if they did yoga? Obviously, it would have been difficult to do Yoga wearing Regency attire, but could it have changed their lives? I know not many people may have pondered this (!), but bear with me… 1. For a READ MORE

I often say in yoga class that this pose is like magic. It’s not a fancy pants pose. You won’t see impossibly bendy people doing it on Instagram .
